About Cabell Midland Show Choirs
Cabell Midland High School's Rhythm in Red Show Choir is an audition-based ensemble of 45 singer/dancers, accompanied by an instrumental ensemble and stage crew. Rhythm in Red competes throughout West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, and Virginia. In addition to competing, Rhythm in Red performs at a number of local and regional events such as nursing homes, holiday celebrations, and community festivals. Members of Rhythm in Red have performed with the WVACDA All State Chorus and the WVMEA All State Chorus, and represented West Virginia in the Southern Division ACDA Chorus. We are a self-funded co-curricular group that relies on fundraising and donations as the means of financial support. Our booster group consists of family, friends, and alumni who assist through fundraising and event support without which we could not continue our program. Since Rhythm in Red’s debut as a competitive show choir in 2004, we have built a recognized, respected, and award-winning program, winning three West Virginia state titles and numerous grand championships and caption awards.
The Scarlettes are a univoice show choir that debuted in 2018. This group provides students with foundational skills in performance and typically performs at school concerts and community events. Although The Scarlettes do not compete at this time, it is our hope to eventually build this program into a competitive show choir as well. The group typically meets for after-school rehearsals on a weekly basis. The Scarlettes have been on hiatus since 2021, but will return as student interest builds. Enrollment is open to all students in grades 9-12 and no audition is necessary to join.
